Why we exist
The story is the constant. The medium is the variable.
Humans have communicated one way for as long as there have been humans: by telling each other stories. Cave wall, palm-leaf manuscript, temple mural, stage, printing press, celluloid, broadcast, the feed. The technology of telling has changed in every single age. The need to be told to never has.
Every age, a new tool arrives. The tellers who matter are the ones who pick it up first — and still remember why they are holding it.
AI is this age’s tool. Most people are using it to make content. AImaginist Studio exists to use it to tell stories. That is the whole company, and every service and every sentence on this site descends from it.
A brand does not need more assets. It needs to be understood, remembered and believed. Nobody remembers your feature list. They remember how you made them feel and what you stood for — and a story is the only delivery system for that which has ever worked.
So our job for a client is narrow: take what the brand actually is, and tell it in the medium their audience is living in right now, at a quality bar that earns attention rather than buying it.
Anyone can generate a beautiful eight seconds. Almost nobody can hold a character, a world and a tone consistent across a whole season.
Every agency on earth claims to be a storyteller. So we never leave the claim standing on its own — Kuttappan is the proof, and the canon behind it is a document we will show you.
Where we sit
Series-grade discipline, on an AI-native pipeline.
For brands, agencies and IP owners who need story-led film at volume and at a consistent quality bar. Unlike a production house, we can hold a look across a season without a season’s budget. Unlike an AI freelancer or a content shop, the character still looks like the character in episode eleven.
The trade-off we accept and state openly: we are not the cheapest per asset, and we do not take work that arrives fully specced as a shot list. We are bought for the telling, not the rendering.
Who is doing the work
Sahaya Rex
Founder & Creative Director
Sixteen years in software engineering before moving into AI-native filmmaking. That is not a résumé line — it is the reason the pipeline is engineered rather than improvised, and the reason the canon exists as a document instead of as a habit.
Founder-led means one point of contact from your first message to delivery. You are not handed to an account team after the pitch, because there is no account team to be handed to. It also means the person who answers on WhatsApp is the person who will direct the film.
The pipeline
Eight steps, and the third one is the whole business.
Canon lock is where a series either becomes possible or becomes a slow accident. Everything before it is cheap to change. Everything after it is not.
- 01
Script
Written in the language the film will run in, not translated into it.
- 02
Design
Characters, world, locations. Reference before production.
- 03
Canon lock
Sheets, head-unit scale, grade library, frame law, banned-word list. Two revision rounds happen before this point.
- 04
Shot generation
Produced against the locked canon and checked against it, shot by shot.
- 05
Assembly
Edit, pacing, and the cut that decides whether any of it worked.
- 06
Grade
To one of the six named grades, or to a bespoke library built for your world.
- 07
Mix
Voice, sound design and mix to broadcast spec.
- 08
Deliver
Every cut the film has to run in — 16:9, 9:16, 1:1, subtitles, platform specs.
The canon is the asset, not the model. Our pipeline is tool-agnostic by design, so when a generative tool is retired or repriced the visual system survives the swap.
The colour system
Six named grades, written on every shot.
Thottumkara Daylight
Neutral village daylight. The base state — every other grade is a departure from it.
Backwater Gold
Teal in the shadows, gold on the water. Late afternoon on the backwaters.
Golden Monsoon
Flat overcast light with warmth still in it. Rain about to arrive.
Naadan Gold
The series' signature. Saturated, warm, unembarrassed.
Thottumkara Dusk
The half hour after the light goes. Magenta creeping into blue.
Night Interior
Lamp-lit rooms. Crushed, cool, and still readable on a phone.
What happens after the first message
WhatsApp is the front door, not the whole building.
We publish the process rather than adding channels, because the unstated worry behind one contact method is whether there is a studio behind it.
- 01
You message us
One tap on WhatsApp, or a brief through this site. We reply within our stated hours.
- 02
We scope it together
A short call if it helps, then a written proposal — scope, deliverables, timeline and price.
- 03
We contract properly
Agreement, invoice and delivery paperwork go by email, like any studio. Production updates stay on WhatsApp.
- 04
We produce and deliver
Canon first, then shots, then grade and mix. Files arrive on a shared link, cut for every place they have to run.
Working with us
The questions that decide it.
Flat answers, one or two sentences each. If an answer here needed a paragraph, it would mean we had not decided the policy — so we decided them.
- Who owns the output?
- You do. Full ownership of the final deliverables is assigned to you in writing on final payment. We retain our pipeline and methodology, and non-exclusive rights to show the work in our portfolio once you have approved it. Read the terms
- Is it safe to use commercially?
- Yes. No real person's likeness or voice without a signed release, no copyrighted characters, music original or licensed, and every character we build is designed by us. That policy is in the contract, not just on this page. Read the terms
- Is our confidential material safe?
- We are NDA-friendly, you get one named point of contact, and nothing is published without your written approval. Our stated position on which tools ever receive client material is on the studio page. How we handle your material
- Will it look AI?
- That is what the canon system is for — a locked character sheet, a head-unit scale, six named grades and a frame law, applied to every shot. Judge it on the episodes rather than on a demo. See the canon in the work
- What if the tools change next month?
- The canon is the asset, not the model. Our pipeline is tool-agnostic by design, so the visual system survives a tool swap — which is exactly why we document it the way we do. The pipeline
- How many revisions do we get?
- Two rounds before canon lock, stated up front. Changes after canon lock are change orders, priced when they come up. We publish this so it is a conversation at the start rather than an argument at the end. Engagement models
- Do we have to disclose AI use?
- We label AI-generated content wherever the platform or your own policy requires it, and we will match your disclosure policy rather than ask you to match ours.
- Who is actually doing the work?
- The studio is founder-led by Sahaya Rex, who directs every project, and you get one point of contact from first message to delivery. Meet the studio

AImaginist Studio is a Kerala-based, AI-native animation and film studio. We make story-led animated films, brand campaigns and original character series in Malayalam, Tamil and English. We work with the discipline of a traditional studio — character canon, locked visual systems, colour graded and mixed to broadcast spec — using an AI-native production pipeline. Our flagship IP is Kuttappan — Brave Mission, a Malayalam 3D animated comedy series. Founded and led by Sahaya Rex.
One tap, and you are talking to the person who will direct it.
